Ignite, Azul Open as Long Dormant Carmichael Crossroads Comes Alive
After almost six years of sitting vacant, suddenly the Carmichael Crossroads strip mall is bustling with activity with a restaurant and a martial arts studio sharing a parking lot with Aldi grocery store.
The Carmichael Crossroads strip mall at the corner of Hanley Road and Carmichael Road alongside Aldi has sat empty for nearly six years since it was built in 2007, but within the span of just one month it has seen its first two tenants open for business.
About Azul Tequila Bar & Grill
The new Tex-Mex and authentic Mexican restaurant has room for about 200 diners, including a bar area, and when the weather warms up, an outdoor patio. The eatery's decor is described as "pre-revolution Mexican" with a hacienda feel
About Ignite Martial Arts
The karate studio moving into Carmichael Crossroads has been in Hudson since 2005 and operated out of the Prairie View Center strip mall at Carmichael Road & Vine Street until October 2012.
"We love it! It's so exciting," said owner Diane Gobran. "We have two classrooms, we have a nice, airy, bright lobby area where people can sit and relax and parents can watch the students. We have 4,200-square-feet, so it's considerably bigger than our previous space."
Nail Salon Could be Next
According to Brian Zeller of Greystone Commercial, the company leasing the building space, a proposal has been sent to a nail salon, and he hopes to close the deal soon.
The nail salon would move into the space next to Ignite and leave the three spaces on the west side of the building available.
"The market is strong," Zeller said. "We're having slow, but sure absorption in our building and it's coming right along. We've got a number of nationals looking at our remaining space so we're almost 100 percent occupied."
