UPDATE (9:20 a.m., Jan. 8, 2013): U.S. Rep. Sean Duffy (R-WI7) made his first visit to town as Hudson's congressman on Monday afternoon as more than 25 people attended his listening session at the Hudson House Grand Hotel.

After Duffy spent the first few minutes addressing the fiscal cliff and the nation's debt crisis, St. Croix County Board Chairman Daryl Standafer moderated a question-and-answer session for the remainder of the hour.

The congressman fielded questions about term limits, political gridlock, local government finance, transportation infrastructure, Second Amendment rights, federal spending cuts, Social Security, healthcare, religious freedom, the farm bill and raising tax rates for high-income individuals.

ORIGINAL POST (8:50 a.m., Jan. 7, 2013): U.S. Rep. Sean Duffy (R-WI7) will be in town on Monday, and he will hold his first local listening session as a congressman serving Hudson.

The event will take place at 5 p.m. at the Hudson House Grand Hotel, and it will last about an hour, according to John Gentzel, director of Communications for the Duffy administration.

Duffy was elected to his second term in November, but it will be his first term as Hudson's representative because of legislative rezoning in 2010. U.S. Rep. Ron Kind (D-WI3) remains in office, but his district no longer includes Hudson.

Received the Duffy meeting news from Patch January 8. The meeting was January 7. Duffy's office also failed with no meeting notice to constituents who signed up on his website for e-mail.

It was originally posted at 8:50 a.m. on Monday. I just posted a short update with a brief summary of the event and a few photos. If I have time later today, I may circle back and actually include some quotes from the congressman's remarks and answers.

Duffy on Twitter: "Sean Duffy (@RepSeanDuffy) tweeted at 4:11pm - 25 Jul 12:
Voted YES today on a bill to audit the Federal Reserve. We need more – not less – transparency and openness in government."
Duffy tweets we need transparency and openness in government, but notice of his Town Hall meeting in Hudson lacked both. Only two sources serving Hudson published notice. The Patch post was 8:50 a.m.; the Hudson Star Observer post at 9:48 a.m. His Facebook page, his list of tweets and his official U.S. Government web site with the U.S. House of Representatives provided no advance notice of the Duffy stop in Hudson to conduct taxpayer business Monday, Jan. 7.
Last-minute notices requiring constituents to log on, go to select web sites and look for the notice of a public meeting demonstrate Duffy's lack of openness and transparency.
