A self-serve frozen yogurt shop is coming to downtown Hudson.

Just before Hudson Booster Days, two large "opening soon" banners popped up in the vacant shop windows on the corner of Second Street and Locust Street (529 Second St.) touting Freestyle Yogurt.

David Brandner first opened Freestyle Yogurt on Lexington Avenue in St. Paul in January and now is expanding to locations in Hudson, Roseville and Blaine, according to the location page of its website.

The shop will compete with other local establishments that serve cold treats such as Knoke's Chocolate and Dairy Queen downtown, and Cold Stone Creamery and Culvers on on the hill.

The St Paul one is next to Trader Joe's and is really good.

I posted that very question on their Facebook page earlier today and just got a response: Late September.

I'm sorry Michael. Should have signed up for email updates-didn't see your question. You fill your own bowl with frozen yogurt and toppings and pay by weight. You can have samples first. There are at least 6-10 daily choices (maybe more?) low fat, no fat and sherberts. Some fruity, lots of good flavors like peanut butter, red velvet, salted caramel etc. For toppings there are a bunch of cereals, granolas, brownie chunks, cookie pieces and candies, great fruit and these really good juice gel like things called bobas.
Places to sit but you can be in and out really quick with take out too.
And Mike, you will like their use of technology! Coupons by text etc.

Been making the trek over to their Lexington Ave location. Best stuff of its kind in this area. Can't wait for their arrival in Hudson.

My girlfriend and I made the trip over to the Lexington shop earlier this month, and it was great!

Thanks to all of you who have commented here and visited our St. Paul store. Big thanks to Michael Foley for breaking the news too! We are SO excited to open in Hudson, yet we aren't rushing things, as we want to get it perfect. We were just issued our building permit today and are now targeting an open date no later than October 29th - hopefully sooner.
