UPDATE: Suspect Named in Fatal Hit-and-Run of 84-Year-Old Woman
A woman in her 80s was killed in a hit-and-run incident east of Roberts. A 36-year-old man was taken into custody minutes later in the 1200 block of Saint Croix Street in the City of Hudson.
UPDATE (8:52 p.m., Sept. 19, 2012): St. Croix County Sheriff John Shilts has confirmed the identity of the suspect in today's fatal hit-and-run crash.
Robert Boles, 36, has been booked into the St. Croix County Jail pending charges that could include homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle, operating while revoked (2nd) and hit and run-involving death.
UPDATE (6:33 p.m., Sept. 19, 2012): The St. Croix County Sheriff's Office has released the name of the woman killed in today's hit-and-run incident.
According to a news release issued by the Sheriff's Office, Lucille M. Hansen, 84, of Roberts was struck by a car and and pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Croix County Medial Examiner's Office.
The suspect taken into custody is a 36-year-old male who was driving a silver 1997 Ford Taurus, according to the release. He is being held in the St. Croix County Jail pending formal charges from the St. Croix County District Attorney's Office.
Roberts Police, Hammond Police, Roberts Fire & Rescue, United Fire, Baldwin EMS and the Wisconsin State Patrol assisted at the scene in the Town of Warren. Hudson Police assisted in the arrest of the suspect.
The incident remains under investigation.
UPDATE (5:05 p.m., Sept. 19, 2012): St. Croix County Chief Deputy Scott Knudson has confirmed that the hit-and-run was fatal for the pedestrian. A woman in her 80s was killed in front of 1378 County Road TT.
The vehicle's speed at the time of impact and other factors of the incident are still under investigation. Wisconsin State Patrol is assisting St. Croix County Sheriff's deputies at the scene with the incident reconstruction.
UPDATE (4:01 p.m., Sept. 19, 2012): St. Croix County Chief Deputy Scott Knudson told Patch that the hit-and-run occurred on County Road TT between 130th Street and 140th Street. A vehicle matching the description — a silver Ford Taurus with a broken windshield — was spotted heading east by a law enforcement officer in an unmarked car.
Knudson said that there was no chase or manhunt and that the unmarked car followed the suspect vehicle east on Baer Road until marked law enforcement vehicles could assist.
The male suspect was taken into custody without incident, according to Knudson.
BREAKING NEWS (3:48 p.m., Sept. 19, 2012): St. Croix County Sheriff's deputies and Hudson Police officers took one man into custody in the 1200 block of St. Croix Steet after a car hit a pedestrian east of Roberts and fled the scene.
St. Croix County Chief Deputy Scott Knudson said the incident happened in the 1300 block of County Road TT.
The condition of the pedestrian isn't being released at this time, according to Knudson.
