Patch Picks: Five Family-Friendly Restaurants in Hudson

There are a lot of family-friendly places to eat in Hudson. We had trouble picking just five.

The kids are hungry and you’re going out to eat. These five places around town know how to make everyone happy.

Shanghai Bistro has an impressive selection of sushi options and standard Chinese cuisine. If your kids like that sort of great Asian food, you can save some money by hitting up this place on Tuesdays. Starting at 3 p.m. every Tuesday, a kid eats free off the kids' menu when a an adult orders an entree or a specialty roll.

Leave the coloring books and crayons at home and head to Mama Maria’s and let the kids color on the tables (well the paper table cloths, at least.) Classic spaghetti or pizza will please the kids while a meal of Cappalletti and fusilli con polloprimavera or alfredo can appease the older crowd. A shared plate of tiramisu or cheesecake can round out the family meal.

Have the kids burn off some calories Burger King’s play area in Hudson while wearing a signature paper crown. The area is also a great meeting place for playdates or rainy-day alternatives. Kids can get chicken nuggets or burgers to go with their apple fries, drink and toy. Caregivers can get a Whopper or Tendergrill garden salad with lettuce, carrots, tomatoes, cheese, dressing and grilled chicken while they’re there. Be sure to appease your fair-eager taste buds and get the funnel cake sticks from the King.

Everything goes good with some family and flaming sauce, right? Adults can grab a brew and some wings while watching nearly any sporting event they chose while the kids nibble on mini corndogs, chicken strips or mac and cheese. Kids can get fries, fruit or carrots to supplement their grub. Grab a fork and spoon and get both a big slice of rich chocolate cake topped with chocolate and scoop into an ice cream sundae with vanilla ice cream and caramel or chocolate ice cream.

The Valley House is large enough to host wedding receptions and large meetings so worries about being cramped and displaying five-star worth manners can be left at home. The ever-popular grilled cheese and chips, burger or chicken fingers and fries are sure to please the young   and mature wallets at under $5 a meal.  A wide variety of meal options for adults is on the menu and includes liver and onions, baked cod, open-faces steak sandwich or a classic Rueben.
