Police Investigate Sunday Evening Stabbing in North Hudson Home

A 45-year-old North Hudson man told police he was home alone Sunday evening when he was knocked unconscious, and then stabbed, by an unknown assailant. Police are asking residents to lock their doors.

The North Hudson Police Department is looking for the public’s assistance after a 45-year-old man was stabbed Sunday evening at his home in the 600 block of North End Road.

Police responded at 7:19 p.m. Sunday to an open cell 911 call tracking to the residence at 612 North End Rd. N., according to a news release. North Hudson Police Officer Robert Moody responded, arriving at 7:20 p.m., to find the front door to the residence was open slightly.

Officer Moody announced his presence and after several announcements, heard a faint voice calling out to him, the release states. Officer Moody entered the home and found the resident, a 45-year-old male, lying on the floor of the kitchen with a knife impaled in his abdomen.

The man was transported by St. Croix EMS to Regions Hospital, where he is in stable condition.

Prior to being transported, the man told police he was home alone and was knocked unconscious while in the residence by an unknown assailant. The man awoke to find a knife in his abdomen.

The incident “may have public safety implications,” North Hudson Police Chief Mark D. Richert said. “At this time, we are unable to determine a motive for this crime.”

The investigation continues and the name of the victim is being withheld for his safety and his family’s safety.

The North Hudson Police Department is asking anyone with information to contact their office at 715-386-8433 or the St. Croix County Emergency Communications Center at 715-386-4701.

A suspect in this case has not yet been identified, so the police are asking everyone to remain diligent in locking their doors and protecting themselves against unwanted intruders.

So they are not releasing victim's name for safety but put his address in a news release? Mike, are you going to edit that out like you did in the lede?

Shawn posted the information the police department released, which did not include the man's name. It did, however, include his exact address, so he passed that information along to the public—quantifying that it was information police disclosed in a news release.

Could the suspect have been the one who broken Dean Knudson's car window?

Fishy story. Why would someone stab him in the gut if he was already knocked out? Probably fell on the knife or gay quarrel and was embarassed. Nothing stolen, yet he doesn't know the suspect. I smell BS.
