Re-Districting Pushes Wyland Out of Fourth Council District
Hudson Common Council unanimously approved new ward boundaries, and changed the ward configuration resulting in Alderperson Lee Wyland living outside the Fourth District, which he represents. He will serve out his current term, which ends in April.
At its Aug. 1 meeting, the Hudson Common Council unanimously approved new ward boundaries, and changed the ward configuration resulting in Alderperson Lee Wyland living outside the Fourth District, which he represents.
“I enjoyed representing what was the district,” Wyland said before it was approved.
He will serve the remainder of his tem, which ends in April.
Part of the Fourth District was absorbed by what is now the Fifth District, and represented by Alderperson John Hoggart. The plan had to be updated according to federal law—which requires entities of the state to draw new districts each decade after a census in an effort to make equally populated districts.
The plan is complicated by the federal requirement to keep census block together, which greatly vary in size and population. As a result, some people will now vote in new polling locations starting in 2012.
