More Snowmaking, Faster Rope Tows: Afton Alps Reopens after Re-Do
Vail Resorts has made improvements since it bought the ski resort last year.
Afton Alps is open for the season, with major improvements made by its new owners (as of a year ago): Vail Resorts, Inc.
Company officials are calling it the "largest single cash infusion in the resort’s 50-year history," the Star Tribune reported.
According to the newspaper and Afton Alps, the improvements include:
- a new pair of rope tows that run at high speed
- 72 efficient snowmaking guns with a at twice the previous rate
- a new terrain park and terrain park village, including places to warm up inside or out
- new dining options and renovated facilities, including a new food truck
