Historical Society Seeks Volunteers for 8th Grade History Tour

St. Croix County Historical Society needs additional volunteers the Annual 8th Grade Hudson History Tour on Friday, October 4tth. The tour and includes a walking tour for students in the morning followed by history booths and activity at Lakefront Park in the afternoon. The annual history tour is a great opportunity to share Hudson’s history and heritage with the students.

The Historical Society is seeking volunteers from 8:00 a.m. to noon to help with the walking tours and/or volunteers to help at the history booths from noon to 3:00 p.m. Volunteers will receive training and instructions.

A few more morning volunteers are needed to read scripts about the former Hudson residents who lived in the houses along the tour route.

Afternoon volunteers are needed at Lakefront Park to assist with a variety of history booths and demonstrations on topics such as the river, lumber, railroad and farming. Afternoon volunteers are also needed to read scripts for the 2nd Street tour.

Do you have history related crafts or skills such as woodcarving, quilting, that you can share? The Historical Society seeks volunteers to present demonstrations at the history booths. The demonstrations are short 5-minute presentations that are repeated to different student groups throughout the afternoon. Simple hands on activities work well.

This event requires a lot of volunteers so anyone available and willing to help is welcome and appreciated. You don’t need to be a history buff to volunteer. Scripts and background information will be provided.

Anyone interested in volunteering should contact Jacki Bradham at 715-386-3826 or rbradham@pressenter.com.
