Hudson High School Bands Hosts St. Croix Jazz Orchestra

bands will host the St. Croix Jazz Orchestra for an afternoon of student music clinics and an evening concert. The concert is free and will feature Hudson High School’s top jazz ensemble opening for the St. Croix Jazz Orchestra at 7:00 p.m. in the HHS auditorium. Music clinics are open to all students in the district and will run from 3-6 p.m., at Hudson High School.

The St. Croix Jazz Orchestra is a premier big band featuring some of the area’s finest musicians. Some of the musicians include: Steve Strand (Hornheads, JazzMN) plays lead trumpet; Jeff Rinear (McNally-Smith, Pete Whitman’s X-tet) plays lead and jazz trombone; Greg Keel (JazzAx) is the featured tenor sax soloist; Judi Donaghy will the featured vocalist. The jazz orchestra is filled out by other fine players who live or work in the St. Croix Valley. Larry Neuman with the Century College Jazz Ensemble will be directing the group.

The concert and music clinics are made possible by a generous grant from the St. Croix Valley Foundation’s music education program.
