The second weekend of April will soon be upon us, and—for Minnesota and Wisconsin bikers—that means it’s time for the annual Defrost Your Nuts run.

The annual motorcyle run is rain or shine, and starts at the Mallalieu Inn in North Hudson on Saturday, April 13.

“It’s free and known as the first run of the season,” Mallalieu Inn Owner Sandy Moelter said. “That’s the draw.”

Defrost Your Nuts began in the early-1980s, and the run has seen as many as 5,000 bikers hitting the road together in the past.

If it’s nice outside, bikers generally start showing up between 9-9:30 a.m., Moelter said. Riders traditionally will leave North Hudson at staggered times between noon and 1 p.m.

Maps detailing the designated stops for the run will be available at the Mallalieu Inn on the day of the ride, Moelter said. Each run is generally about 60-70 miles.

“The run is on the schedule, it's rain or shine," Moelter said. "The forecast is not looking good, but that’s always hit or miss.”
