UPDATE: Man Tries to Break Into Closed Cigar Shop With Cop Inside

According to police reports, a man used shovel to smash a truck window and try to break into a cigar shop where a St. Croix County Sheriff's deputy was inside watching TV and smoking a cigar.

UPDATE (5:45 a.m., Dec. 5, 2012): An intoxicated man was taken into custody early Tuesday morning after witnesses inside the shop, including a St. Croix County Sheriff's deputy, say he used a shovel to smash a truck window and try to pry his way into the back door of St. Croix Cigar Co. for a pack of cigarettes.

Goldyray D. Yeazle, 31, of New Richmond, was arrested and faces felony charges of burglary and possession of burglarious tools, and a misdemeanor charge of criminal damage to property, according to court records.

According to the criminal complaint, Yeazle smashed a truck window in the alley behind the shop and was using the shovel on the back door just after 4 a.m., but he didn't know anyone was inside the shop at the time.

"Luckily for us, one of our employees who happens to be an St. Croix County Sheriff's deputy, was inside enjoying a cigar," said shop employee Kevin Gharrity. "Needless to say, it was a bad night to be a bad guy."

According to the criminal complaint, Yeazle tried to buy cigarettes at the shop earlier that evening and said he felt wronged because the store wouldn't sell him cigarettes that he couldn't pay for.

Damage to the business was estimated at $290 while damage to the truck was estimated at $350.

Why break a truck window?

I am literally laughing out loud. He was wronged because they wouldn't sell him cigarettes, he couldn't pay for and the deputy was inside, best news of the day!

Hey it's not Mr Yeazles fault, how could you grow up being named 'Goldyray' and not turn out to be an idiot.
Dave Hopkinson December 05, 2012 at 03:28 PM
Goldyray's alibi is a lie. St Croix Cigar Company does not even sell cigarettes; they only sell cigars and pipe tobacco.

Obviously discriminating against the "poor and needy" by not giving him free smokes...must be greedy, rich 1%'s keeping him down.

the best part for me is that the sheriff was inside.

@ Jim Bob who cares we all have lives after work! Glad he was there to let suspect turds understand that Hudson is not the city to attempt crimes in.

Personally knowing the deputy that was there, I can tell you he was there after his shift, winding down and relaxing. He is not the kind of person who would waste county tax payer money for a cigar break. Thankfully he was there! St. Croix Cigar Co. is a fantastic cigar shop full of fantastic people...It's my favorite place to be while I am visiting Hudson.

So many posts. I'm that "goldyray" and I'm sad to say it's my given name. My only surprise of the night was waking up in jail with memories of the rape I went through so many years before. I just woke up in jail and was told about what I did. Desperate and addicted? No, I had cigarettes at home and did not leave where I was staying with proper clothes nor even closing my door. I left my own place as open as the burglary I'm charged with. Take interest if you must. But know one thing, don't drink when you are hungry regardless of anyone who takes your sorrows through such spirits. You only lose your memory and freedom. I'm almost certain none of you commenting knows what it's like to be so hungry.

If anyone is interested. I never walked in before or felt wronged. Apparently I said that and will quickly abide by anything that's told to me. I think I was told I was burglarizing the place and was more interested in the food I get to eat there. I've been denied community support with food and only ate others waste. Where I was I had found a half eaten pizza days before and can only assume that was my original goal.
