Northland Liquors Becomes Setter's Liquor

Randy Morrissette II has managed the Northland Liquors store in the Plaza 94 Shopping Center for the past 11 years. On Tuesday, he began a new adventure by opening it as Setter's Liquor.

The Northland Liquors location in the Plaza 94 Shopping Center closed on Tuesday, but re-opened at 4:30 p.m. as Setter's Liquor as the shop's manager bought the store from SSG Corp.

Randy Morrissette II has managed the shop for the past 11 years and he said started the Northland brand name for SSG, which now operates Northland Liquors stores in Roberts, New Richmond, Hastings and a new shop in Hudson — all alongside Holiday Stationstores it also owns.

Morrissette, the City of Hudson District 1 alderman, received approval for his liquor license at Monday's council meeting and wasted no time turning over the shop from Northland to Setter's on Tuesday.

"I'm overwhelmed," Morrissette said. "This is new for me, but I enjoy a good challenge."

He said shortly after he opened the doors Tuesday afternoon, several regular custormers stopped in to offer their support, and Morrissette shared with them his plans for future of Setter's Liquor.

"We'll have the same great customer service with more product at a more competitive price," he said. "I'd also like to cross-merchandise with local businesses and carry their products such as steak sauces and cheeses. We are the local liquor store."

Customers also will notice a new paint job inside the store to give it a fresh new look.
