Patch Picks: Five Romantic Restaurants in Hudson to Take Your Valentine

There's no need to drive to the Twin Cities for a romantic getaway this Valentine's Day.

Whether you're looking for fine dining, great wine, sweet desserts or even heart-shaped pizza, Hudson has a restaurant for your Valentine's Day date. We picked five local places to take your sweetheart this weekend, but we'd also like to hear from you. Tell us in the comments section where you plan to go for Valentine's Day.

Mama Maria's Italian Restaurant

serves authentic Italian food in an intimate setting in North Hudson. For Valentine's Day weekend, the restaurant is preparing a special featured entree, pasta, seafood dish and martini.

A grilled 12-ounce ribeye steak with a broiled lobster tail is the featured entree. The featured pasta is basil cannelloni with grilled chicken, asparagus andwild mushroom cream sauce. The featured seafood dish is seared jumbo scallops. While you're waiting for your food, sip on a “Be My Valentini" (passion fruit vodka, raspberries and champange) or order a bottle of one of Cupcake Cabernet, Cupcake Malbec or Cupcake Chardonnay.

Pier Five Hundred

 has a special Sweethearts Menu for the weekend, which includes two varieties of grapes, two types of appetizers, four entrees and two different desserts. Entrees choices include a hand-cut steak filet with Parmesan-crusted walleye, Alaskan crab legs, mussel linguini and mahi-mahi in Cajun sauce.

San Pedro Cafe

Chefs at , in Hudson's historic downtown district, are featuring a few appetizers, entrees and desserts for the holiday. Scallops Rockefeller, and crab and Parmesan cheese puffs are among the featured starters. Main course features include halibut en papillote and bacon-wrapped filet mignon. For dessert, try the chocolate lava cake or peanut butter mousse and Concord grape wontons.

Nova Wine Bar and Restaurant

If you're in the mood for good wine, head on over to the  on Coulee Road. The wine bar is in the older half of the store, which was converted into a cozy space with a fireplace and more than 200 bottles of wine ready to be opened at your command. If you can't agree on a bottle, there are about 30 wines available by the glass.

Nova's menu changes every three months or so. To get an idea of what to expect, check out the restaurant's menu on its website.

Bricks Neapolitan Pizza

If you're looking for a more casual Valentine's Day experience, give a shot. Bricks' menu is filled with fresh, tasty pizza made according to Neapolitan standards. If you ask, perhaps the pizzaiolo (Italian pizza chef) will craft your pie into a heart shape. Even though this upscale pizza place is in the heart of Hudson, you'll feel like you're on a romantic escape in Naples.
