Vote Yes: The Top 10 Reasons as You Head to the Polls
Why you should vote yes — short, sweet and honestly.
As you head to the polls, here are the top 10 reasons you should vote yes to buy the St. Croix Meadows site for a future secondary school:
- Space is needed now for both middle school and high school students.
- St. Croix River Crossing construction will create more growth.
- It takes a community eyesore and turns it into a community asset.
- Minimal tax impact to purchasing site: only $22.50/year on a $250,000 property.
- Site is shovel-ready – 90,000 square feet of building infrastructure is complete.
- Water, sewer, access roads, parking already on site (valued at $4.5 million to $7.45 million).
- 126 acres allowing for flexible planning – do we want varsity athletics on site? Potential community partnership opportunities for use of new space by all school district residents.
- Up to $40 million in district borrowing capacity + $8 million in existing site infrastructure can be applied to future construction costs – all of this without raising taxes.
- Non-build options (increasing class sizes, daily split schedule, multi-track year round schedule) are NOT acceptable.
- Well educated well skilled youth are our future!
