WEATHER ALERT: Wind Advisory Issued for Hudson Area

A cold front will push through a cold front on Thursday and could produce gusts as fast as 45mph.

The National Weather Service has issued the following wind advisory:

A wind advisory remains in effect from 10 a.m. this morning to 7 p.m. CDT this evening.

  • Timing: Northwest winds will increase to 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph by 10 am. Then increase to 20 to 30 mph with gusts above 40 mph by noon on Thursday. A few gusts above 45 mph will be possible. Winds will diminish during the early evening hours.
  • Winds: 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 40 mph. And a few above 45 mph.
  • Impacts: Loose objects could be blown around. And small or weak branches could come down in the wind. Light and high-profile vehicles could be impacted.

A wind advisory means that winds of 35 mph are expected. Winds this strong can make driving difficult. Especially for high-profile vehicles. Use extra caution.

Windy conditions arriving in the wake of a cold front:

A cold front that moved through the area early this morning will be ushering in cooler temperatures and gusty winds for today. Northwest winds of 15 to 25 mph will quickly develop this morning. Then pickup to between 20 and 30 mph by afternoon. Winds will gust to around 40 mph at times from late morning through the afternoon. With a few gusts in excess of 45 mph possible. Winds will begin to quiet down during the evening hours.
