Empty Bowls Dinner

Youth Action Hudson in partnership with the Purple Tree, and the Social Justice League, one of the after-school clubs at the high school, will be hosting an Empty Bowls Dinner on Feb. 3rd from 5:00-7:00 pm. Empty Bowls is an international campaign to raise awareness and combat hunger associated with poverty.  Guests arrive at the dinner and choose a ceramic bowl handmade by local artisans and students in the district.  Then a simple meal of soup and bread is served.  In exchange for a free will donation, the guests are allowed to bring the bowls home with them to serve as a reminder of all the empty bowls in the world.  All of the money raised goes back into the community to an organization that works to fight hunger, such as a food shelf.  This year we have chosen to donate all the proceeds to the Hudson Backpack Program.  They provide backpacks full of food to kids whose families need the extra food to get them through the weekend.  For more information on Empty Bowls please visit the national website at emptybowls.net.  Any additional questions can be directed to the YAH office at 715-386-9803.
