Larsen Sports Medicine is Now Catalyst Sports Medicine

Larsen Sports Medicine has been sold to John Knutson and JW Matheson.

Rich Larsen takes prestigious position with Mayo in Rochester as their new Sports Medicine Rehabilitation Coordinator

Rich Larsen, founder, President and CEO of Larsen Sports Medicine and Physical Therapy and Catalyst, recently accepted an offer from Mayo in Rochester, Minnesota, to become the Sports Medicine Rehabilitation Coordinator.  Rich will start his duties at Mayo at the end of January.  While Rich commutes to begin work there near the end of January, Brenda Larsen will remain at home with the three children while their oldest son Ty finishes grade school.  They will look to list the house for sale and hope to move to the Rochester area sometime before the start of school in the fall of 2013.

G.M., John Knutson, and Clinic Director, JW Matheson, buy the business, which will now be called Catalyst Sports Medicine

One of the conditions of Rich Larsen accepting the new position at Mayo was that he divest himself from the business and sell his practice.  The logical buyers came from within…being local businessman, John Knutson, who was currently serving as the General Manager and LSMPT Clinic Director, JW Matheson.

In taking the Mayo position, Larsen focused on selling his business internally with Matheson and Knutson and a deal was consummated on Monday, December 31st around 5:00p.m.    The new entity will be called Catalyst to try and maintain the consistency and continuity that Larsen has built, which will continue under the ownership and management of Knutson and Matheson.

Knutson says, “We very much appreciate the opportunity presented by Rich Larsen in selling us the business; certainly for the opportunity of ownership in the business, but also because of the fact that we can retain all of our staff and continue on the growth plans that we have been working on as a private independent practice.”

Matheson’s perspective is similar, “Our philosophy of providing a great experience for all our clients as we deliver the highest quality care in an evidence informed practice will continue.  Our entire team here is dedicated to exceeding our client’s expectations…like Rich Larsen has done in the past.   We intend on continue that philosophy well into the future here.”
