Kenneth Eugene Schweitzer, age 80, of North Hudson, died peacefully Friday June 13, 2014 at his residence. Kenneth was born on December 25, 1933 on the family farm on the north end of Bass Lake in the Town of Somerset; the son of Henry and Ruth (Henry) Schweitzer. He was raised in Hudson where he would graduate from the Hudson High School in the class of ’52. As a young man, he served in the Wisconsin National Guards from 1950 to 1954, where he completed the Infantry Radio Maintenance Course. He would be united in marriage to Alta Ness at Trinity Lutheran Church in Stillwater on June 14, 1960. This union would be blessed with three children; Marie, Neil, and Anna. Alta would sadly precede him in death on July 13, 1978.

Kenneth worked thirty years for FOK (Farwell, Ozman, and Kirk) Hardware in St. Paul. He would leave his post here to join the North Hudson Public Works Department. He worked his way through the ranks to become Superintendent before retiring in 1996. On May 5, 1984, he was united in marriage to Sharon Kay Meyer at the First Presbyterian Church in Hudson.

Kenneth was excellent in working with his hands. He was a gifted woodworker who enjoyed making birdhouses, benches, tables, and even a grandfather clock. He also liked tinkering with electronics and working with his balsa wood model airplanes. He loved all sorts of fishing; but thoroughly took pleasure in catching perch on Cass Lake in Minnesota. He was a proud member of First Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder and deacon.
