OBITUARY: William L. Hunt, age 86, of Hudson, WI

W

illiam L. Hunt, age 86, formerly of Milaca, passed away December 9, 2013, at the Christian Community Home in Hudson, WI.

William was raised on a farm in Mora, Minnesota, by his parents George and Alice Hunt.  At age 17, he joined the United States Marine Corps and was sent to Parris Island for training.  After WWII, he joined the National Tea grocery chain and set up stores throughout Minnesota.  In October 1953, he married Cora Riley of Aitkin, Minnesota.  In 1961, he and Cora moved to Milaca where they ran H & R Auto Parts store for the next 30 years.

He enjoyed tending his plants and flowers, camping with his family when they were young, and entering sweepstakes.

He is survived by his children: Evanne (Greg), William (Rita), Kimberly (Jay); and grandchildren: David, Sabrina, Payton, Grace, and Bailey. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Cora; and son, George.

A gathering of friends and family will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 11, 2013, at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 S. 11th St., Hudson with a memorial service to conclude the evening at 8:00 p.m. Private military inurnment will be at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.

The family requests no memorials.
