Key Marketing Tips

Busy business owners have little time for marketing. Some business owners have no budget for marketing. Enclosed are key marketing tips to get known by your target market.

Key Marketing Tips:

The exciting pieces of marketing are the things you can do
easily and see results!

Most important to your business is your building of a network of “real” referral partners and strategic partners.  Develop agreements with others to recommend each other and connect people.   Do you do the “Ask?” Be sure to ask for referrals of others, and educate them on how to refer to you.  Better still, be sure you are being an example and referring to others. Network like crazy.

Branding yourself and giving a consistent message to your target market is important.  Make sure people know your name, your business, your logo and your values and services. Be sure you have business cards on you all the time, no matter where you go. A great website, marketing materials and a well written commercial are essential.

Community involvement and aligning your business with a charity show you are basically willing to invest in your community and involve others.  Be a resource for others and help others grow their business. Mentor others and be visible.

Know your unique proposition; how you differ from others in your field. Be “top of mind” with others, staying in touch, sharing tips, educating, writing and hanging out with your target market. Use social media to attract and engage with your target market.

Have a plan!  With no plan you chase moving targets.  Narrow your focus on one thing and do it well. Identify where you want to be in 6 months, 1 year, and 3 years.  Don’t be that guy who has a hammer and wants to be a handyman, but has no clue how to run a business.  Take classes, learn from others, work with a
business coach, get help with a marketing plan and work with an accountability partner.
