100 MPH New Richmond Police Pursuit Ends with Stop Sticks on Stillwater Lift Bridge

The suspect from New Richmond, WI crashed into a pole on Broadway Street early Saturday, according to Stillwater police.

A police pursuit initiated by a New Richmond officer reached speeds of more than 100 miles per hour early Saturday before stop sticks deployed on the Stillwater Lift Bridge brought it to a sudden conclusion, according to Stillwater police.

The vehicle's driver managed to turn north on Hwy. 95, then crashed into a pole in the 1900 block of Broadway Street N. at about 12:30 a.m., with squad cars from St. Croix County, Somerset and New Richmond in pursuit. 

Police took a male New Richmond resident into custody on suspicion of fleeing in a motor vehicle, a felony. New Richmond police had the vehicle, an SUV, towed back to New Richmond.
