A police pursuit initiated by a New Richmond officer reached speeds of more than 100 miles per hour early Saturday before stop sticks deployed on the Stillwater Lift Bridge brought it to a sudden conclusion, according to Stillwater police.
The vehicle's driver managed to turn north on Hwy. 95, then crashed into a pole in the 1900 block of Broadway Street N. at about 12:30 a.m., with squad cars from St. Croix County, Somerset and New Richmond in pursuit.
Police took a male New Richmond resident into custody on suspicion of fleeing in a motor vehicle, a felony. New Richmond police had the vehicle, an SUV, towed back to New Richmond.
