Afton Man Killed in St. Croix River Boat Crash; Men From Hudson, Bayport Badly Inured

An Afton man was killed, and men from Hudson and Bayport were badly injured in a boat crash near Kinnickinnic River State Park on Wednesday night.

An Afton man was killed, and men from Hudson and Bayport were badly injured in a boat crash near Kinnickinnic River State Park on Wednesday night, according to a KSTP report.

  • Died at scene: David Joseph Riley, 40, from Afton
  • Taken to Regions Hospital: Patrick Puhalla, 46, from Bayport
  • Taken to Regions Hospital: Daniel Michael Schultz, 55, from Hudson

Nearby fishermen reported the accident to police a little before midnight. The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office says the boat ran into a rockface on the side of the river just north of the Kinnickinnic State Park Beach in Wisconsin.
