Hudson Police Blotter: Dog Attack Leads to Euthanization

The following information was supplied by the Hudson Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Animal Complaint: A woman visited the Hudson Police Department on the morning of Friday, July 29, to report an attack by a golden retreiver that led to the euthanization of her dachshund dog. According to the police report, the woman was walking her dog near Kinnickinnic Street and Ninth Street when the golden retreiver got loose from a leash, ran out of a nearby yard and attacked the dachshund. The dog suffered a large laceration in the stomach area, internal injuries and a broken back, according to the woman. Police are still investigating.

Theft: A man called police on the morning of Friday, July 29, to report that items had been taken from his vehicle overnight. The vehicle was parked in the 1100 block of Fourth Street in front of the owner's residence and he said he thought he locked it, but there were no signs of forced entry. Thieves made off with a GPS device valued at $150, an iPhone charger worth $20 and head phones worth $40.

Theft: A woman called police at about 6 p.m. on Friday, July 29, to report that items had been taken from her unlocked vehicle parked at her residence in the 1600 block of Pinewood Lane. Thieves took a GPS device valued at $110.

Theft: A boat owner called police on the morning of Saturday, July 30, to report that two boat batteries had been stolen from his boat overnight. The boat was parked at the Hudson public boat launch in Lakefront Park between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. the night before and the owner left it there overnight because of problems with the spark plugs. Upon returning the next morning at about 10:15 a.m., he noticed the boat was moved and the batteries, valued at close to $70 apiece, were missing.

Theft: A man called police on the afternoon of Sunday, July 31, to report that his GPS device was stolen from his vehicle, which was parked at Pizza Hut. The driver left the vehicle outside the restaurant with the doors unlocked and the windows down from about 2:30 p.m. until about 4 p.m. The GPS device was valued at about $200.
