Hudson Police Blotter: Officer Helps Corral Loose Llama in Road

The following information was supplied by the Hudson Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Llama in the Road:Β A concerned citizen called to inform police of a llama in the road near Meadowlark Drive and Old Highway 35 at about noon on Sunday, June 26. When an officer reached the intersection he was informed that the llama had made its way behind a nearby barn. The officer helped home owners corral the llama into a fenced-in area until its owner, who lives in the neighborhood, could be reached.

Found Money: A River Falls man found a large sum of money in the upper parking lot of the St. Croix County Government Center on Friday afternoon. The individual called the police and told them that he would keep the money and if someone called reporting that they had lost it that he would return it if the claimant could describe the bill denominations and the vehicle it was found near.

Operating a Vehicle Without Owner's Consent: On Thursday, June 23, at about 11 p.m., Nichols D. Boreen of Greenfield, MN, was cited with operating left of center, operating while intoxicated, operating without a valid license and operating a vehicle without the owner's consent.

Ditch Weed: A Hudson man called police to his home in the 1900 block of Chestnut Drive at about 5:15 p.m. on Friday, June 24, to report a suspicious plant growing in his back yard. He believed the plant to be a pot plant said and he wanted an officer to identify it. When the officer arrived, he pulled up the plants and destroyed them, noting that they appeared to be ditch weed.

Wrong House: A woman called police to her home in the 1000 block of Seventh Street at about 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 26, because someone was trying to enter her home. When an officer arrived, he escorted the man to the patrol car and noted that he could smell a very strong odor of intoxicants coming from the man as they spoke. The man told the officer that he was looking for his house, which was in the 500 block of St. Croix Street. The officer brought the man home after the woman asked police to not take legal action against the man.

Failed Auto Theft: Officers responded to an auto theft/property damage call in the 1000 block of Colonial Drive at about 2 p.m. on Monday, June 27. At the scene, officers spoke with a vehicle owner who said overnight someone had broken a passenger-side window of his truck and attempted to punch the steering column, breaking it in the process. The man estimated that it would cost about $500 to repair window and steering column.

Camper Break-in: Police responded to a burglary call in the 1200 block of Birch Drive at about 6:30 p.m. on Monday, June 27. The caller said his travel trailer parked in his driveway had been broken into sometime between 9:30 p.m. on Sunday and 7 p.m. on Monday. A fire extinguisher, a homemade wooden speaker box and some DVDs were taken. In addition to the missing items, the trailer was damaged when the burglar unsuccessfully attempted to remove a radio mounted on a cabinet and a small TV mounted on a wall.
