Hudson Police Investigating Possible Sexual Assault

Officers set up a perimeter around a Hudson neighborhood for more than an hour in a failed attempt to find the suspect. Police chief doesn't feel there's a threat to the public.

At about 12:20 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 20, Hudson Police officers responded to a call at an apartment at 907 Coulee Road for a possible sexual assault.

According to Hudson Police Chief Marty Jensen, a 24-year-old woman told police that she heard a knock at her door, and, thinking it was her boyfriend, she let a man into the apartment. She says that the man then forcibly sexually assaulted her before leaving the area on foot.

Hudson officers worked with law enforcement officials from multiple agencies to set up a perimeter and search the area for more than an hour without finding the man. Some officers were staged at intersections on Coulee Road, 11th Street and Colonial Drive while other officers investigated the scene.

"We don't feel that there's any danger to the public right now," Jensen said. "It's under investigation. We're still gathering evidence and trying to piece together what happened last night."

Hudson Police Department was assisted by Wisconsin State Patrol, St. Croix County Sheriff's Office and North Hudson Police Department as well as a Hudson Hospital nurse trained by the St. Croix Valley Sexual Assault Response Team.
