Hudson Police Seize Computers From Left of Center, Return Them Hours Later

Police will not elaborate on what they hoped to find, whether they found it, what possible crimes they are investigating or if they have any suspects. The matter remains under investigation.

officers executed a search warrant at about 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 24, at , an adult entertainment and smoke shop in dowtown Hudson.

According to Hudson Police Chief Marty Jensen, officers were searching for "illegal and controlled substances and did take some items," but shop managers Melissa Daniels and Brian Orcutt said that the police seized only the store's computer equipment.

"They were very nice to us," Daniels said. "They respected us as a business, and we respected them as the authorities."

The managers said they could have remained open during the search, but with several cops hanging around inside, not too many customers would want to come in. Also, without their computer systems, the clerks would have had to write receipts by hand. The managers decided to close the shop until they could figure out how to handle the computer situation.

Luckily for the business, the police brought the computers back within a few hours.

"They were really nice about it," Orcutt said. "They even helped us hook the computers back up and make sure they were working."

According to Jensen, the search warrant was executed as part of a joint operation in conjunction with another warrant at Puff Puff Glass in River Falls at the same time.

Jensen would not elaborate on what police hoped to find, whether they found it, what possible crimes they are investigating or if they have any suspects. He would only say that the matter remains under investigation.
