New Year's Day Crash Kills Hudson Man

Taylor J. Casey, 19, died Wednesday in rollover on County Hwy. A in the Town of Richmond. His passenger, Antonio I. Bloomquist, 19, also of Hudson, was unhurt.

A 19-year-old Hudson man died in a one-car rollover crash at about 5:18 a.m. on New Year's Day, according to the St. Croix County Sheriff's Office.

Taylor J. Casey was driving a 2002 Mercedes Benz SUV southbound on County Road A in the 1600 block, just south of Richmond Way in the Town of Richmond.

Casey lost control of the vehicle, entered the east ditch and rolled over. He was partially ejected from the vehicle. The St. Croix County Medical Examiner pronounced him dead at the scene.

The crash did not injure Casey's passenger, Antonio I. Bloomquist, 19, also of Hudson.

New Richmond police, fire and EMS departments also responded to the crash. It was the first traffic fatality of 2014, the sheriff's office said in a press release, and remains under investigation.
