North Hudson Man Dies After Crashing Motorcycle into Tree

The St. Croix County Sheriff's Office is investigating the crash.

A North Hudson man died Sunday after he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into a tree.

The St. Croix County Sheriff's Office responded to the crash at 11:10 a.m. Sunday. It occurred on Lemon Street near Monroe Street in the Village of North Hudson.

John A. Hilke, 64, was driving his 2009 Harley Davidson northbound on Lemon Street when witnesses say he lost control of his motorcycle. Hilke was ejected from the motorcycle and died at the scene, according to the Sheriff's Office. 

Hilke was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. 

The St. Croix EMS and North Hudson Police Department also responded to the incident. The Sheriff's Office reported that this was the eighth fatality of the year. 

The crash is currently under investigation.
