NW Health Sciences U. President Found Shot Dead: Report

No reason to think Jeff Nelson's death was "anything but an accident," a university official told WCCO.

The president of Northwestern Health Sciences University in Bloomington was found dead of a gunshot wound Tuesday morning, according to WCCO

Jeff Nelson died on his property in Stillwater, WCCO reported. The incident occurred in West Lakeland Township in Washington County, according to Stillwater police. The Washington County Sheriff's Office confirmed that location.

WCCO-AM cited a university official as saying there's no reason to believe it's "anything but an accident."

Classes were cancelled Tuesday, WCCO reported, quoting a statement from the school, which called the incident a "tragic occurrence":

“Though some of us worked with Jeff only a short time, during his months as our president he re-energized our campus and heightened our aspirations. All of us will be affected by this tragic news, but none so much as Jeff’s family. We’ll be doing everything we can to support them, and have already dispatched members of our leadership team to Jeff’s home in Stillwater."
