River Falls Man Dies in Erin Prairie Township Crash

William Eubank, 66, of River Falls, was pronounced dead on the scene of a two-vehicle crash Wednesday morning in St. Croix County.

A 66-year-old River Falls man died in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday morning at the intersection of county highways G and T in Erin Prairie Township, according to the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office.

William Eubank was driving a 1999 Honda Odyssey northbound on County Highway T at about 6:25 a.m., when according to witnesses, he came to a stop and then continued into the intersection where his vehicle was struck by a Ford Ranger driven by Brian Swanepoel, 36, of New Richmond.

Both vehicles came to a rest on the northeast side of the intersection, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office. Eubank’s vehicle came to a rest on its roof, while Swanepoel’s vehicle came to a stop on its side.

Eubank was pronounced dead at the scene. Swanepoel was transported to Westfields Hospital in New Richmond with unknown injuries.

Investigators believe weather conditions played a role in the crash, as it was “very foggy” at the location when deputies arrived.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts, according to the sheriff’s office. The crash remains under investigation.

This is the seventh fatal crash in St. Croix County this year, according to the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office.
