UPDATE: Green Bay Woman Dies After Head-on Crash With Semi

An eastbound car crossed the median and hit a semi truck traveling westbound on I-94 on July 31. The driver succumbed to her injuries the following day. State Patrol says the crash was not related to the Highway 65 interchange construction.

UPDATE (2:45 p.m., Aug. 4, 2012): Emily R. Sadowsky, 22, of Green Bay, died at Regions Hospital on Wednesday as a result of injuries sustained in Tuesday's crash east of Roberts, according to a Wisconsin State Patrol news release issued Saturday afternoon.

On Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at approximately 11:16 a.m., an eastbound 2006 Subaru Forester crossed the median at milepost 13, Kinnickinnic Township, St. Croix County and was struck by a westbound 2011 Volvo tractor owned by Beacon Transport.

The Subaru was driven by Emily R Sadowsky, age 22, Green Bay, WI. Ms. Sadowsky received critcal life threatening injuries as a result of the crash. She was transported to Regions Hospital by River Falls Amublance in St. Paul, MN.

The Volvo semi-tractor was operated by Lexie Threshtler Aiken, age 47, Barnwell, South Carolina. Mr. Aiken was uninjured in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation at this time. 

 

UPDATE (2:15 p.m., July 31, 2012): Wisconsin State Patrol has issued the following release about today's crash:

At 11:20 AM on Tuesday July 31, 2012 a crash occurred on I-94 WB at MP 13 in ST. CROIX County near HAMMOND.

Assisting agencies included SCSO St. Crx Hwy Dept., River Falls Amb, Jerrys Towing.

The crash involved 1 injury.

The details of the crash are as follows:

On Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at approximately 11:20 a.m., a car versus semi crash occurred on I-94 westbound, milepost 13, St. Croix County.

A 2006 Subaru was traveling eastbound on I-94. The vehicle left the roadway and traveled through the median and into the path of a westbound semi. While this crash was located near the WIS 65 interchange project, it was not related to work going on in the construction zone.

The driver was the lone occupant and was transported to a nearby hospital by ambulance with critical injuries. The driver of the semi was not injured.

UPDATE (1:30 p.m., July 31, 2012): Wisconsin State Patrol has reported that the scene was clear at 1:22 p.m. and all lanes were reopened.

UPDATE (12:32 p.m., July 31, 2012): RiverTowns.net is reporting that the crash involves a semi truck and a car, and that a LifeLink helicopter transported a patient from the scene. RiverTowns also has a photo from the scene.

ORIGINAL POST (11:53 a.m., July 31, 2012): A day after , Wisconsin State Patrol is reporting that another crash has occurred on I-94 just seven miles to the east.

According to Wisconsin State Patrol, the crash happened at about 11:20 a.m. on Tuesday about three miles east of Exit 10, which currently is the site of a major highway interchange construction project.

According to State Patrol, wesstbound lanes are closed, but traffic are using the shoulder to pass the crash site. Traffic is now backed up for more than three miles.
