Hudson School District’s Learning and Student Services Departments will be recommended for reorganization to the Board of Education on Tuesday, February 12th. The purpose of the reorganization is to develop a more collaborative, learning-focused support system for students and staff at the school level. Specifically, the new Learning Support Services Department will provide high quality, responsive services to further increase the district’s capacity to improve the learning of all students. At a time when significant changes are taking place at the state level, now more than ever, it is critical to the success of students to have seamless learning support services.

Learning Support Services will be led by Directors Sandi Kovatch, Cory McIntyre and Dave Grambow. Each director will be responsible for integrating his or her primary responsibilities into focused outcomes that lead the implementation of the district’s strategic vision HSD 2025; balances school priorities with district-wide learning initiatives; customizes services that eliminate potential barriers to individual learners, while at the same time strengthening the district’s overall system for learning. By integrating curriculum and instruction, special education, and system for learning improvements, students and staff can expect supports and services that further advance high quality instruction and student outcomes.

Learning Services Director, Sandi Kovatch has been leading the district’s curriculum and instruction initiatives since 2005. She will continue to focus on curriculum and instruction with an emphasis on student assessment, program evaluation and improvements, and initiatives that support student success in the transition from school to career and or college.

Student Services Director, Cory McIntyre came to the district in 2009. Cory will be responsible for integrating special education services, including English language learners, students with disabilities, gifted and talented programming and all of the supportive services that are behind learning success for all students.

With the new title of System Improvement Director, Dave Grambow has an expanded administrative role leading such areas as educator effectiveness, new teacher support, technology, and district-wide system for learning improvement. Previously as Learning Services Associate Director, Mr. Grambow’s primary focus was on teacher and administrator professional development which will continue as part of his responsibilities. Dave has been with the district for 18 years, serving as an elementary teacher, Emotional Behavior Disorder (EBD) teacher, and elementary principal before becoming Associate Director.
