Paul Rode Hoping for Appointment to North Hudson Village Board

Local businessman Paul Rode hopes to claim a seat on the North Hudson Village Board of Trustees without even having to run for election. Dan Ortner is not running for re-election and Stan Wekkin is running unopposed for Village President.

Local businessman and philanthropist Paul Rode says he now wants to try out serving in public office.

It's too late for Rode to get onto the ballot for the April 2 local elections, but he still has a pretty good shot.

North Hudson Village Trustee Stan Wekkin is running unopposed to fill the Village President seat currently occupied by George Klein. Trustee Dan Ortner has already filed paperwork declaring that he will not run for re-election.

2013 ELECTION GUIDE

According to North Hudson Village Clerk Becky Milbrandt, the Village Board will appointment new trustees to those two seats (just one if a write-in candidate is successfully elected to Ortner's seat)*, and Rode hopes to be one of them.

"I'd like to take over Stan's seat, because there's just one year left in the term and it would give me a chance to try out being a board member to see if it's for me," Rode said.
