Republicans in Hudson Vow to Stand With Walker Through Recall

St. Croix County Republicans plan to have fully operational campaign for election phase of Walker recall.

The St. Croix County Republicans are not sitting idly by while a recall effort has been launched upon Republican Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker. In Hudson, Republicans are showing their support and preparing for an election if enough signatures are gathered.

Jesse Garza, chairman of the St. Croix County Republicans, said the party will have a fully operational campaign in St. Croix County when the recall process goes into an election phase.

"A volunteer base will not be a problem during this recall," Garza said. "We defeated the union/Democrat machine in the 2010 election and during the summer recalls. We will beat them again for Governor Walker."

Garza says the recall effort is all about union leadership power, which is not what is in the best interest of Wisconsin or its union members.

"It is not surprising that the recall effort is going forward," Garza said. "The Democrats and special interests have been telling the world over the last six months that a recall was coming. We don’t want to go through another recall but we are ready."

The party was energized on Aug. 9 when Wisconsin state Sen. Sheila Harsdorf soundly defeated a recall attempt. Garza said since then he has had fears about activist fatigue, but has found nothing but strong support at the grassroots level.

Butch Schultz, a Hudson resident and Walker supporter, has helped place large "We Stand With Walker" signs at two locations in Hudson.

"He has done a tremendous job taking the state from a large deficit to a balanced budget in a year's time," Schultz said.

"We get overwhelming emails and calls each week asking what can be done to defend Governor Walker," Garza said. "The voter turnout results for Senator Harsdorf coupled with our appreciation for what Governor Walker has done for the State of Wisconsin has made volunteer fatigue a nonissue."

Garza says the governor's budget repair bill, which is what touched off the strong opposition in February 2010, has netted positive results throughout St. Croix County.

"In Hudson alone, Walker and the legislators gave the Hudson school board the freedom and flexibility through Act 10 that saved more than $2.6 million dollars through pension reform and bidding out insurance providers," Garza claimed.
