Walker Will Meet With John Doe Prosecutors

Gov. Scott Walker will meet with Milwaukee County prosecutors to discuss their investigation into whether current and former aides did campaign work on state time.

Walker has hired two defense attorneys, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported, but he maintains that he did nothing wrong.

Last week, who worked directly for Walker while he was county executive, Darlene Wink and Kelly Rindfleisch.

In a statement, Walker said he would be meeting with prosecutors in Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm's office, but he did not specify a date for the meeting.

“Last year, my representatives voluntarily contacted Mr. Chisholm's office to arrange a time to discuss any outstanding issues. I will be voluntarily meeting with Mr. Chisholm,” he said. “To assemble additional background information, I hired counsel to insure that I am in the best position possible to continue aiding the inquiry.”

• Kind introduced legislation that would give about 80 Wisconsin National Guard soldiers the thousands of dollars they were once promised.
• Kind voted to freeze salaries for congress and all federal employees.
• A Holmen businessman and farmer, Bruce Evers, is forming an exploratory committee to consider running for Kind’s seat.

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI)

• Johnson’s staff will be available for office hours on Feb. 9 at two locations in west-central Wisconsin.

Sen. Herb Kohl (D-WI)

• Kohl introduced legislation that would give about 80 Wisconsin National Guard soldiers the thousands of dollars they were once promised.
• Kohl has continued his fight to keep Wisconsin FBI field offices open.
• Kohl said plans are “well under way” for his Antitrust, Competition Policy and Consumer Rights subcommittee to hold a hearing on Verizon’s $3.6 billion deal to buy wireless airwave licenses from a group of cable companies.
• Republican state senator Frank Lassee dropped out of the race for Kohl’s seat.
