Readers' Choice: Best Bank or Credit Union

What's your favorite financial institution in Hudson? Patch wants to know.

There are all sorts of archetypal American heroes: John Wayne. John F. Kennedy. Abraham Lincoln.

My favorite: Jimmy Stewart, especially in his role as caring banker Geroge Bailey in "It's a Wonderful Life." He wasn't just a friendly banker—his work was as vital to the community good as soldiers defending our freedom, teachers inspiring our kids and doctors protecting our health.

And so it is today; a good bank or credit union is a vital part of financial prosperity, offering a hand with everything from buying that first house to providing a comfortable retirement.

Which financial institution in Hudson has earned your trust? Where do you turn to ensure that your money works as hard as you do?

Nominate your favorite bank or credit union in the comments below.

We will take nominations starting this week. Nominations end July 9 and voting will run from July 23 to Aug. 17.

My mom set me up with a WESTconsin savings account when I was a kid to try to teach me some responsibility. Despite moving around the world in the military and around the country as a journalist, I still have the account. I have a Wells Fargo account too.

Midnight, Wondering what, in particular that you don't like about the site? Is there a way I canRead More make using the site a bit easier for you? Or is the aesthetics? Looking to help, if we can.

So far all I've seen is OLD news repeated day after day. It can't always be a "slow news"Read More day. Any new posting is days old, i.e. in last week's HSO. I do like the notices of garage sales (but the times are always wrong). And I miss "Where in Huson is that?" and being able to see past photos.

Good idea, George. The population of the United States in 1789, was less than 4,000,000 people whoRead More lived in a narrow strip of land along the Atlantic Seaboard. Today the United States is a Continental sized country plus Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico. It has a population of around 315,000,000 people, which is more than 80 times that population. The US has a defense budget of around $1,000,000,000,000 annually including the NASA, CIA, etc. So, of course we should run it like the Founders did in 1789. So, I suggest we get rid of all of our highways, airports, the Air Force, Army, Navy, Marines, and Coast Guard as they didn't have any of these things. All of the Cell towers should come down, cable TV networks dismantled and the Internet shut down. Since we won't have highways any longer, all of our cars should be melted down. The ideas of the 18th Century were fine for the 18th Century; however they don't work so very swell in the 21st Century. Welcome to it.
George June 13, 2013 at 07:52 am
Thats what I said? I don't think so but I guess you are the genius. Do you think we can't cutRead More wasteful spending without killing the monster. Citizens are to monitor and Limit Government not the other way around. You got some good training, hope you are paid well enough to pay more in taxes.
Steve ® June 14, 2013 at 09:29 am
Liberals are such idiots. Captain like his ilk completely ignore the free crap and wastefulRead More spending that goes to their voting base. Phones, food, housing, clothing, smokes, drugs, education, disability. They like to bring up the obvious spending, protection, and what we as drivers pay into, highways.
