Milbrandt said the construction crew working on the Highway 35 bridge over Lake Mallalieu inadvertantly cut the T1 fiber line while replacing a guardrail. A crew is now working to repair the line and restore service to the school.

Because of fiber failure, North Hudson Elementary School has been without its main phones and Internet access since Monday afternoon. The Hudson School District posted the following announcement on its website this morning:

Please note that fiber to North Hudson Elementary was cut on Monday around noon leaving the school without it's main phone system and Internet access.  If you need to contact someone at North Hudson Elementary please call 715-377-3871.  Calls cannot be transferred into the classroom but messages will be delivered to the teachers by the office staff.

At this time, it's  unclear what caused the fiber to be cut. It's also unclear whether the fiber failure affects only the school or the surrounding residential neighborhoods as well.
