Hudson Patch to Host Second School Board Candidate Forum

Hudson Patch will host a school board candidate forum with the four candidates at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, at the Phipps Center for the Arts. The entire community is invited to submit questions via email and attend the event.

Hudson Patch will host a school board candidate forum with all four candidates at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, at the Phipps Center for the Arts. Hudson Patch Editor Micheal Foley will host the event and act as moderator.

The entire community is invited to attend and participate in the forum, which is possible because local business owner Paul Rode paid the Phipps rental fees. The River Channel Hudon/North Hudson Community Access TV will tape the debate for later airing on Comcast cable's Channel 15. The station also will post a YouTube video of the event, which will appear on Hudson Patch.

The Candidates

Jeanette Kunz, Jamie Johnson Bruce Hanson and Jim Schrock have qualified for the April 2 general election by placing in the top four during the Feb. 19 primary.

Submit Your Questions

In an effort to ensure the best questions are asked at the debate, Hudson Patch is reaching out to its user community to suggest debate questions. Users can send an email to foleymo@patch.com with the "DEBATE QUESTION" in the subject line. Please only submit general questions about the issues that can be addressed by all the candidates. In order to keep the forum fair for all candidates, questions specific to just one candidate won't be asked at the forum.

This event will be the third such candidate forum or debate put on by Hudson Patch, and it will follow a similar format with timed responses to questions from the moderator. The first was a debate between State Senate Recall candidates Shelly Moore and Sheila Harsdorf in July 2011. The second was a mayoral debate between candidates Scot O'Malley and Alan Burchill in March 2012.

Candidate Information

TNT probably was referencing the fact that many people will be out of town and voters won't be around to be participate. Did you want low attendance?
Concerned Citizen #2 February 25, 2013 at 03:15 AM
Has anyone seen the Bruce Hanson signs suddenly placed right next to the Kunz signs? There are a number of locations around town where his signs have sprung up since the primary, and they have sprouted next to Kunz, side by side. I am wondering if this is a coincidence or by design? Maybe he hopes to ride across the finish line attached to Kunz, since she beat him in the primary. Don't be fooled. Kunz is a conservative. Hanson is an unknown who was recruited by the superintendent to run for the board. Putting his signs right next to hers appears to be an act of desperation.

As long as the candidates are there and The River Channel TV cameras, everyone will be able to experience it. They can even submit questions to me via email. Being there in person is just an added benefit for those who can make it.

I think that Bruce Hanson is now running a piggy back campaign. Pretty sad if you ask me. First they were with Johnson now Kunz. Interesting. Kunz is the only vote for me

Yeah that's it. Come on. Grow up

My votes will be for Jeanette Kunz and Jim Schrock. Since Hanson and Johnson were handpicked by our Superintendent, it'll be more of the same. Why even have a school board when she dictates to them what she wants. Shouldn't be there some form of a check and balance system similar to the government? If the answer is "no"you might as well get rid of the school board.

Concerned Citizen #1 March 08, 2013 at 03:19 PM
