Hudson's Ryan Kromer Cruises to State Cross Country Title

The senior standout turned in a championship performance in Wisconsin Rapids Saturday.

Hudson High School senior Ryan Kromer capped off his cross-country career with the season's ultimate prize, a WIAA Division 1 state championship, with his performance at The Ridges Golf Course in Wisconsin Rapids on Saturday, Oct. 27.

Kromer, who was in a pack after mile one, broke free in the second mile and then ran away in the 5,000-meter course's final stretches for a time of 15:27.17, more than 10 seconds better than runner-up McKena Ramos Sheboygan South.

The senior was fourth last year as a junior, and told the Hudson Star Observer he "faded at the end" in 2011.
