Six Hudson Swimmers Compete at WIAA State Meet

Amanda Baker, Devin Cicha, Erika Guenther, Catie Weese, Megan Haney and Natalie Wood competed at the 2011 WIAA State Girls Swimming and Diving Meet.

Six Hudson Raiders swimmers competed in the 2011 WIAA State Girls Swimming and Diving Meet held at the University of Wisconsin Natatorium in Madison on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011.

Senior diver Amanda Baker turned in the top finish for the Raiders by scoring 247.95 in the 1-meter dive. Her score was good enough for eighth place and 11 team points.

Freshman Devin Cicha swam two individual events—the 200-yard freestyle and the 500-yard freestyle—and scored points in both. Cicha swam the 200 in 1:56.55 for 16th place and one team point; she swam the 500 in 5:12.63 for 12th place and five team points.

Freshman Erika Guenther competed in the 200-yard individual medley and finished 18th in 2:13.71. 

The Raiders also had two relay teams compete in the meet—the 200-yard medley relay and the 400-yard freestyle relay. The 200 medley, made up of Cicha, Guenther, senior Megan Haney and senior Catie Weese, finished 19th in 1:54.17. The 400 free relay, made up of Guenther, Weese, Cicha and freshman Natalie Wood, finished 13th in 3:40.42 for eight team points.

Overall, the Raiders collected 25 team points and placed 22nd as a team.
