Civil War Encampment Set for July 26th at the Octagon House Museum

The Octagon House Museum will host the 6th annual Civil War Encampment on Saturday, July 26th from 12:00 to 4:30 p.m. The encampment will be held on the museum lawn at 1004 3rd Street in Hudson. This family friendly event is free and open to the public.

Doug Harmon with the volunteer re-enactors of the Prescott Guards will be returning to share stories of the every day life of the Civil War soldier, from the equipment they used, what they ate, to what they did for entertainment. Living historian Kim Holbrook will discuss the work of women during the Civil War era and Charlie Holbrook will talk about the soldier’s life.

The Octagon House Museum will also be open for guided tours at regular admission prices with the new 2014 theme of “Picturing the Past” that highlights photos of the Hudson area from the Society’s collection.
