Singers and One Actor Needed for Cemetery Walk

St. Croix County Historical Society will present the Willow River Cemetery Walk on Saturday, June 7th from noon to 3:30 p.m. and we are seeking choir members, guides and one male actor.

The Cemetery Walk will return as part of the annual Yellowstone Trail Heritage Days celebration on June 7th and 8th (more info at http://hudsonwi.org/events/yellowstone-trail-day).

Singers are needed for “the Pearly Gate Singers” choir, which will sing traditional funeral hymns as part of the Cemetery Walk. Songbooks will be distributed in advance and there will be 3 or 4 choir practices in May.

A new “Spirit” will be introduced on the walk this year. Guest will learn about early Hudson area pioneer Catherine Lewis who will be portrayed by her great-granddaughter Mary Frances McKay.

The cast of spirits is almost assembled, however, due to a cancelation, we need one more male actor (approx. age 40 or older). Whether you are and experience thespian or you just want to try acting, this is a great opportunity get involved in this unique and fun community event.

Volunteer actors portray the “Spirits” of former Hudson residents at their gravesites. Scripts will be provided and the actor will preform 5 to 10 minute soliloquy several times trough out the day.

Volunteers (12 or older) are also needed as “Guiding Angels” to escort tour groups through the cemetery to the gravesites where actors will share the life stories of the “Spirits.”

The Historical Society also welcomes additional assistance with ticket sales and set up. Actors, singers and volunteers of all level of abilities are welcome to participate.

The Historical Society holds the Cemetery Walks on an annual basis as a way to share the stories about Hudson’s forefathers. Proceeds from this performance are used to support the St. Croix County Historical Society and the Octagon House Museum.

Anyone interested in acting, guiding, singing or other volunteering should contact Jacki Bradham at 715-386-3826 or email rbradham@pressenter.com.
