Yellowstone Trail Heritage Days Set for June 7th and 8th

The annual Yellowstone Trail Heritage Days event is set for the weekend of June 7th and 8th in Hudson, Wisconsin. This community celebration of the historic Yellowstone Trail offers a variety of family friendly activities to choose from.

The weekend begins on Saturday, June 7th with several activities starting at 9 a.m. including Geocaching on the Trail with a Meet and Greet at Dick’s Bar & Grill followed by a CITO (Cache In - Trash Out).

Gardeners may enjoy the St. Croix Valley Master Gardeners’ Plant Sale at the Octagon House Museum from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., or the Ciranda Organic Garden Tour from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 221 Vine Street. Take a ride out of town on the Yellowstone Trail and stop by My Sister’s Garden at 850 Kelly Road (from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.) for a free marigold and yellow plant specials.

The Hudson Arch at Lakefront Park will be the location for the vintage vehicles and classic cars display, featuring a “Slow Race” at 1 p.m. Enjoy live music, children’s activities, community organization booths, and Coco’s Heart Dog Rescue will have dogs who are looking for a home. The activities at the park are free and run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The St. Croix County Historical Society will present the Willow River Cemetery Walk from 12 to 3:30 p.m. Listen to the Pearly Gate Singers choir and take a guided walking tour through the historic cemetery where actors portray the “spirits” of past Hudson residents. The Octagon House Museum, at 1004 Third Street, will also be open for tours from 12 to 4:30 p.m.

Sunday, June 8th activities get off to a delicious start with a Homemade Pie and Ice Cream Social at the First Baptist Church from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Children can enjoy turn of the century yard games on the lawn and at 12 p.m. “The History of Hudson” movie will be presented in the church sanctuary. The church is located at 309 Vine Street. 

The Historical Society is offering free downtown history walking tours at 12 and 1 p.m. The tours take about an hour, starting at the Hudson Arch and ending at the First Baptist Church.

Also on Sunday, the Octagon House Museum will be open for tours form 12 to 4:30 p.m. and My Sister’s Garden will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with Yellowstone Trail specials.

The Yellowstone Trail Heritage Days weekend is packed full of fun activities, so put it on your calendar and make plans to join the fun. You can also take a drive and explore the Yellowstone Trail and test your observation skill with the scavenger hunt along the Trail. 

To enjoy the Yellowstone Trail year-round, stop by the Hudson Area Chamber office and pick up a stampable Yellowstone Trail Passport, then take a drive into history as you “Blaze the Trail” to other Wisconsin communities on the Trail.
