There is Still Time to Register for RiverFest Activities

Hudson’s second annual RiverFest celebration is set for July 12th - 17th. Several partner organizations have colaborated to present the St. Croix RiverFest: Party With a Purpose! with opportunity for people of all ages to get outside and enjoy the River. While many of of the activities are free here are a few of  them that require pre-registration or have fees.

On Saturday morning, July 12th at 8:00 a.m. the “Family Fun Paddle Battle” race on the river will be held at Troy Beach. Canoes, kayaks, YMCA Camp St. Croix’s Voyageur Canoes and any other non-motorized watercraft will “race” for trophies in various categories. More information and a registration form is available on the RiverFest website at www.stcroixriverfest.org. Registration after the 7th and onsite race day registration from 7:30 - 8:15 a.m. is $35.

The Phipps Center for the Arts’ Summer Art Camp program will offer a Just Add Water art and science class for students age 8-12. The class runs Monday - Thursday from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. and is jam-packed with RiverFest activities and programs. The class fee is $199. The YMCA will offer 50-minute water safety class that focus on educate youth on how to stay safe around water. The 4 day session runs Monday - Thursday from 5:00  5:50 p.m. or from 6:00  6:50 p.m. These are not traditional “swim lessons,” but rather, children (age 5-14) will learn how to be safe around lakes, pools, rivers, and streams. The FREE water safety classes are made possible thanks to a donations from Hawkins Inc. and Abbey’s Hope Charitable Foundation, but students must pre-register by July 11. Registration forms are available online or at the Hudson YMCA.

The Let’s Go Fishing St. Croix Valley Chapter provides free fishing and boating excursions for seniors (55+), persons with physical or developmental disabilities, and military families, and veterans. Several trips are scheduled throughout the week of RiverFest. Space is limited, so please visit the Let’s Go Fishing Calendar to reserve your trip in advance.

The Hudson and North Hudson River Clean-ups are set for Tuesday, July 15th, from 9 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. While the goal of RiverFest is to get people out to enjoy the river, the river cleanups are the “Purpose” for the celebration.
