Honeybee Swarm Temporarily Closes Dike Road in Lakefront Park

Dike Road was closed at 8 a.m. Tuesday morning after Hudson parks supervisor noticed a large swarm of bees on a tree about halfway to the end of the dike in Lakefront Park.

A swarm of honeybees caused the Dike Road in Lakefront Park to temporarily close Tuesday morning.

Dike Road was closed at 8 a.m. Tuesday morning after the city’s parks supervisor saw a large swarm of bees on a tree halfway to the end of the dike.

Park staff worked with area beekeepers to remove the bees.

Hudson Public Works Director Tom Zeuli told the Star Observer that beekeepers estimated 30,000-50,000 bees to be in the swarm. The bees were captured in boxes and were transported away from the park.
