Patch Picks: Five Great Places to Swim in Hudson

High temperatures spark urges to cool off by swimming — check out these places around town.

With the high heat be safe and have fun at the same time while swimming in one of the local watering holes.

With access to the river and a sandy beach be sure to battle the heat by taking a dip at Lakefront Park. There are lifeguards on duty so it’s a safe and fun place for the whole family.

Brown’s Beach

North Hudson’s shoreline beach is Brown’s beach. Just drive down Galahad Road North and turn off onto Third Avenue North. At the end of the street you'll see signs for the beach and a set of stairs that take you to the shoreline. There aren't any lifeguards on duty at this small, secluded beach, so you'll have to swim at your own risk.

Troy Beach

A small St. Croix River beach to check out is the seasonally-open Troy Beach off County Road F.  There are no lifeguards but a swimming within buoy boundaries are allowed and a changing house, toilets and other fun amenities are at the beach.

For a non-river swimming hole check out Perch Lake and Homestead Parklands. The 80-acre park is the place to go if a family just wants to be by the water. There’s a handicap-accessible fishing pier, a swimming beach and boat rentals available at the park for water activities.

Go swimming, fishing or canoeing in the Little Falls Lake at Willow River State Park. While there, get your feet wet while checking out the waterfall while hiking along the trails.
