A Hudson Idea: Buy Schaffhausen Home at Auction
The idea, floated on the Agave Kitchen's Facebook page, is for Jessica Schaffhausen to decide what to do with the River Falls property.
Three community efforts are aiming to honor the memory of Amara, Sophie, and Cecilia Schaffhausen, and one has a Hudson figure behind it. KSTP-TV reported on
the Tri Angels 5K Fun Run and Cruisin' for a Cause motorcycle ride, both taking place Saturday. Another cause—using donated funds to buy the family home at foreclosure auction—is the brainchild of Agave Kitchen owner Paul Rode.
From the KSTP-TV report:
"Jessica Schaffhausen, the girls' mother, wants to build a memorial playground to honor her three daughters. She'd also like to see the family's previous home could be used for some kind of public good. Both efforts will likely require a lot of money. ...
"Now, a local philanthropist is floating around an idea on Facebook of pooling private donations to buy the home, and then leaving its future up to Jessica. She has suggested using the home for firefighter training or converting the property into a community garden."
