Cory McIntyre is the third Hudson School District administrator this school year to leave the Hudson School District for another job.
Hudson School District’s Director of Student Services, Cory McIntyre, is leaving the district for a position with the Maplewood-Oakdale-North St. Paul School District. According to the Hudson School District McIntyre submitted his letter of resignation on May 16. McIntyre was recruited to take over the position of Director of Special Services with Independent School District 622. McIntyre has been with the Hudson School District since July 1, 2009. This is the third Hudson School District administrator this school year to be recruited by another school district. The student art gallery will open for viewing at 6 p.m., and the musical portion of the festival begins at 7 p.m., according to the St. Patrick Parish School, The Catholic Community of Hudson, WI page on Facebook. According to the post, at least one piece of artwork from each student will be displayed. Musical performances will include the fourth-graders playing recorders, the fifth- and sixth-grade choir, and the seventh- and eighth-graders will put on a musical preview of "The Nifty 50s." Katelyn M. Baier, a senior at Hudson High School, is one of four Wisconsin students — just 141 nationwide — who earned the prestigious Presidential Scholars award. Her teacher Rick DuBois was also honored with a national award.
Katelyn M. Baier, a senior at Hudson High School, is one of 141 seniors in the country named 2013 Presidential Scholars, according to a press release issued by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. Each student was asked to name his or her most inspiring teacher, and Baier chose Rick DuBois. He will receive a Teacher Recognition Award from the U.S. Department of Education. It’s hard not to feel a bit sorry for Rebecca Blank, incoming chancellor of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Sure, the acting U.S. commerce secretary, set to start in July, will make $500,000 a year — plus benefits and perks, including a university residence and car, money for travel and entertainment, and an unpaid academic appointment for her husband. Nearly 60,000 people in the region were without power at one time or another after heavy snow hit the area Thursday, May 2. By Thursday night, many were back on line.
UPDATE (9 a.m., Friday, May 3): Wisconsin Xcel Energy workers have been working hard to restore power to the area, and many customers were back on line late last night. Wisconsin Xcel updated Patch Thursday evening with this statement: As of 6 p.m., more than 80 percent of the customers affected by today's snow storm have been restored to service. With snow continuing in some areas and additional outages in the afternoon the number of customers in western and northern Wisconsin and southeastern Minnesota affected by today's storm increased to about 60,000. In Wisconsin, about 6,400 Xcel Energy customers remain without service. A total of approximately 330 field crews (lineman, troubleman) were working restore service in the affected area …

The Hudson School District added the following post later this morning: The decisions made to close, delay, or release students early from school are not made lightly. We are very conscious of the impact closings have on schools, students, and families. There can be a wide variance of snow and road conditions across a district as large as Hudson. While road conditions in one area may be safe, other areas may be hazardous as was the case today.
