Three Hudson Gymnasts Compete in WIAA State Meet

Amanda Baker, Olivia Dunlap and McKenna Daulton represented the Raiders at the 2012 WIAA Gymnastics State Championships.

The Hudson High School gymnastics team sent senior Amanda Baker, and sophomores Olivia Dunlap and McKenna Daulton to the 2012 WIAA Gymnastics State Championships in Wisconsin Rapids on Friday, March 2.  Baker placed 25th on the balance beam with a score of 7.700 and 24th in the all-around competition with a score of 32.567. Dunlap came in right behind Baker in the all-around competition, placing 25th with a score of 32.516. Daulton came in 26th on the vault with a score of 8.350.

Three Hudson Gymnasts Qualify for WIAA State Meet

Amanda Baker, Olivia Dunlap and McKenna Daulton are headed to Wisconsin Rapids Friday to compete in the 2012 WIAA Gymnastics State Championships.

Three Hudson High School gymnasts will compete in the 2012 WIAA Gymnastics State Championships in Wisconsin Rapids on Friday, March 2. Senior Amanda Baker, and sophomores Olivia Dunlap and McKenna Daulton qualified for the championships at last week's sectional meet in Stevens Point. Both Baker and Dunlap qualified in the all-around competition (vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise). Daulton qualified on the vault.

Hudson Sends Two Wrestlers to Individual State Meet

Tanner Owens and Kolya Hawksford advanced to next week's WIAA state individual wrestling meet.

Hudson High School wrestlers Tanner Owens and Kolya Hawksford advanced to next week's Wisconsin state individual wrestling meet with strong performances at the WIAA sectional meet held at Eau Claire North on Saturday, Feb. 18. Tanner Owens was the sectional champion at 160 lbs., and Kolya Hawsford placed second at 152 lbs. Four other Hudson wrestlers competed at the meet, but only those who finished first and second at sectionals make the state meet. The Raiders got third-place showings from Derek Schindler at 170 lbs. and Dima Hawsford at 182 lbs. Fourth-place finished came from Nick Nelson at 113 lbs. and Eliot Motu at 220 lbs.  Full results from the Eau Claire North sectional meet

Skinner Brothers Lead Hudson Swimmers at WIAA State Meet

Charlie and Willie Skinner swam in four events apiece to lead the Raiders to 60 team points and a 14th-place finish at the 2012 WIAA State Meet.

Six members of the Hudson High School boys swimming and diving team competed at the WIAA State Meet at the University of Wisconsin Natatorium in Madison on Saturday, Feb. 18. The team tallied 60 points at the meet, which was good enough for 14th place. Senior Charlie Skinner qualified for state in four races — two individual events and two relays. In his individual events, he placed seventh (51.94) in the 100-yard butterfly and eighth (1:55.63) in the 200-yard individual medley.  Sophomore Willie Skinner, Charlie's little brother, also swam in two individual events and two relays. He placed 15th (4:58.19) in the 500-yard freestyle and 16th (22.40) in the 50-yard freestyle.  As for the relays, the Skinner boys teamed up with sophomores …

PHOTOS: Elimination Round at the Red Bull Crashed Ice World Championships

Hudson native David Kron was eliminated from the first stop of the Red Bull Crashed Ice World Championships Friday night in St. Paul.

Hudson native David Kron came inches short of qualifying for the Finals of the 2012 Red Bull Crashed Ice World Championships Friday night in St. Paul. Kron, ranked 73rd, sped down the 406-meter track against sixth-ranked Jim DePaoli of Switzerland and 47th-ranked Evgeny Altukhov of Russia in the elimination round. Kron qualified for the elimination round after finishing the national time trials 27th out of 100 athletes. Kron stayed close behind the International athletes through the top half of the course coming around "Pete's Corner" in second when he lost his balance over the double bump and came up inches short of clearing the final bridge on the way to the Dutch Mountains. Altukhov dug deep and found the energy to cross the finish line…
